D2's Vintage Revival on the Hudson

Built in the 1850’s this antique home is located in the historic town of Irvington, NY, only 20 miles from midtown Manhattan.

A young family with two very active and growing boys hired D2 Interieurs to give this historic home an updated look with loads of texture, color and pattern.  They needed the D2 Difference!

The homeowners fearless use of color was one of the reasons they were attracted to D2.  Pops of color and texture are seen throughout the home but still in keeping with the integrity of the property.

The result is a bright, sophisticated and happy home that is a perfect mix of new and old.  The home is a true reflection of the homeowners taste and lifestyle.

“When I first met D2 I said to Denise, not only do I love color - but I love texture and I love when things are not perfect in every room. I love to have something pop out at me that is different and unique and special. And I like things that are both old and new, and clean and dirty. The mixture of all of those things that are perfectly imperfect is what D2 was able to do exactly, and that is what they created for me.” - explained by the happy client.

The house has a feeling of luxury that doesn’t seem overdone.

“We really believe that all the homes we design are homes that people live.  They are not showrooms.  People come to us for our use of color and the homes are comfortable and livable.” - Denise Davies

“We are known for our color, decorating with color is not what people always imagine. If you look at what we are doing, we always start with neutral bones and then we layer on the color.  It adds versatility. It’s very easy to switch the accessories.  The house is a reflection of the homeowner.” - Denise Davies explains how she applies color in her designs.

Kitchen After - what a D2 Difference. The kitchen before was OK but very drab, yellow and country. But we don’t do just OK. We want the house to sing! Denise brought this kitchen back to life by making it white and bright! AHHHHHH! Also, the lighting is EVERYTHING in this kitchen, the Kelly green just pops and is so vibrant. The green chandeliers over the island are from Shine by S.H.O. The additional green accent colors are picked up in the custom window treatments as well.

Living Room After! The living room is now light and bright with custom D2 Interieurs sofas upholstered in velvet. The armchairs are covered in Schumacher’s Darya Ikat in Jewel, and a stone cocktail table. The rug is also a custom D2 design! We love designing rugs for our clients!!!

PS - this house made the covers of NYC&G and HGTV Magazine!!!
