Urban Mod

The D2 Difference. This is one of Denise’s favorite before and after projects!

The client had just purchased the home and it was dark and dated.  Though the house had great bones, it needed some modern updates and to accommodate a home office and kids of varying ages. Denise was the perfect designer for the job.

Denise wanted the home to have a hip, modern vibe. Each room needed to stand on its own and be extraordinary. Since Denise did not have a lot of restrictions from the client, she was really able to push the design past a normal comfort level. However, knowing the homeowner so well, she made each room livable and comfortable.

The living room was such a sad space when we started the project; the family never used it. D2 Interieurs renovated every inch, adding custom built-ins, a stone mantle, and glass panels to the entry staircase. The wallpaper is everything (it mimics the wood panels) and the suede ottoman is decadent. The sectional is a custom D2 Interieurs design and I love the simplicity of the Apparatus Chandelier. Now the family uses this room everyday!

In the dining room, the chairs are vintage Milo Baughman recovered in a Holly Hunt Chenille. Denise incorporates a little vintage in every room she does. The table and rug are both custom D2 Interieurs designs as is the credenza.

The breakfast room and family area is the place where the family spends most of their time, cooking, hanging out, and reconnecting at the end of the day. Denise wanted it to be calming and not over-stimulating with too much color.  Surrounded by windows and an abundance of natural light, Davies utilized a subtle palette of warm whites and grays. She brings the outdoors in through the strategic use of plants and natural elements, including grass cloth, textured woven rugs, and pillows crafted from vintage textiles.

D2 designed and installed new natural oak built-ins in the family room to complement the odd angle of the fireplace. The client always wanted wood storage so we incorporated that into the design as well.
